Recently I completed a master bedroom makeover and the interesting thing is the color palette did not change.
This bedroom was last decorated about 15 years ago and the homeowner spent quite a bit of money on the wall treatment. It’s a faux, suede texture in a beautiful indigo blue and the homeowners did love it! So when we sat down and started discussing a color palette the clients kept coming back to the blue walls that they still loved. So we decided to come up with another coloration to go with it so they could keep their beautiful blue walls and save some money.
I focused on updating the other elements in the room. We came up with another color scheme for the drapes and bedding to compliment the blue walls and make the whole room fresh and current.

The bedroom after:
We removed the outdated cornices, added new drapes and a roman shade in the new color scheme. We also added a more contemporary drapery hardware. Our workroom did the custom bedding and pillows paying attention to detail right down to the buttons on the bed skirt.
The upholstered bench and re-upholstered chair along with new artwork and accessories really bring the room to life. We all were very happy with the outcome.
I’ve found that when you put together colors that you really love you don’t really grow tired of them. It’s the other elements in the room that we usually tire of and need to be updated.
Good design does not have to be expensive! Here, we saved money by not repainting the walls so the budget could be used for the real jewels of the room.
